Sizes & Framing

Frames are not included with purchase of Makers Ink prints. Our prints are available in variety of sizes, to fit widely available, standard, ready-made frames.

ISO standard "A" sizes:

A4 - 210 x 297 mm / 8.3" x 11.7"
A3 - 297 x 420 mm / 11.7" x 16.5"

IKEA standard frame sizes:

40 x 50 cm / 15.7" x 19.7"
50 x 70cm / 19.7" x 27.5"
61 x 91 cm / 24" x 35.8"

ISO A size frames can be found at KMart, Officeworks, Corban & Blair, Spotlight, and many discount stores.

Suitable IKEA frames include: Ribba, Mossebo, Marietorp, Gunnabo, Silverhojden, Stromby, Verserum and Fiskbo. Spotlight also carry frames in the IKEA sizes.

Due to differing aspect ratios, some designs may appear slightly different to what is shown on our product pages. For example, a 40 x 50cm print is slightly squarer in shape than an A3. Every design has been carefully, individually modified to display beautifully in each available size. Our website shows A4/A3 examples.

If you need a size you can’t find here, email us at hello@makersink.com.au for a custom quote.

Framing tips:
  • Frames are available with and without a mat. A mat (sometimes also called a mount), is a thin card border within the frame, that is usually able to be removed. An A3 sized frame, for example, will fit an A3 print without the mat, or an A4 with the mat. See example in the frame below.
  • Sizes are generally displayed on the frame packaging as “to fit XX size” or as “frame size XX mm” and “mat opening XX mm”
  • “To fit” is the dimensions of the artwork that will be visible within the frame or mat.
  • “Frame size” generally refers to the inside edge of the frame, unless specified otherwise.
  • “Mat opening” or “mat size” is the area the artwork will be visible within the mat border.
  • If you choose artwork the same size as these measurements, the whole artwork will be visible within the frame, regardless of how wide or narrow the actual frame is.
